Keyboard Shortcuts

Below are the keyboard shortcuts available.

General #

  • i and o are used to set in and out points for audio and video. You can also press i and o while hovering the mouse over a file’s thumbnail (performing a hover scrub) to set the in and out points to use when dragging it into a sequence.
  • enter submits comments/logs and replies in the comment list. Press shift+enter to insert a new line in fields that support it
  • esc closes an open dialogue window

Video Player #

  • i and o  set in and out points for audio and video. Any comments or logs made while in and out points are set will use them as a time range
  • left arrow and right arrow go frame by frame
  • up arrow jumps to the in point
  • down arrow jumps to the out point
  • j plays backward, k pauses, and l plays forward. When playing backward, j speeds up playback and l slows it down. Conversely, when playing forward, j slows playback and l speeds it up.
  • space pauses and plays
  • home jumps to the beginning of the clip
  • end jumps to the end of the clip

Video Editor (Sequence) #

  • up arrow and down arrow jump to the previous or next edit point in a sequence
  • left arrow and right arrow go frame by frame
  • j plays backward, k pauses, and l plays forward. When playing backward, j speeds up playback and l slows it down. Conversely, when playing forward, j slows playback and l speeds it up.
  • space pauses and plays
  • home jumps to the beginning of the sequence
  • end jumps to the end of the sequence
  • - and =  zoom the sequence in or out
  • \ zooms out to fit the entire sequence in view
  • f loads the topmost (or selected) clip at the cursor position in the file details view
  • v selects the Move Tool
  • h selects the Hand Tool
  • c selects the Cutter Tool
  • a selects the Select Forward Tool. All clips ahead of where you click will become selected. It’s a great way to move the rest of a sequence when working in the middle.
  • s turns snapping on and off. Holding alt when selecting clips will ignore linked clips.
  • delete deletes the selected clip
  • shift + delete will Ripple Delete (move the clips down that are ahead of the one being deleted)
  • Ctrl+XCtrl+C, and Ctrl+V (or Cmd+X, Cmd+C, and Cmd+V on a Mac) cut, copy, and paste selected clips in the sequence. You can copy and paste between sequences too. Clips will be pasted starting at the position of the sequence cursor.
  • Ctrl+Z (or Cmd+Z on a Mac) undoes the previous action
  • Ctrl+Y (or Cmd+Y on a Mac) redoes the action
